Message in a Haunted Mansion was one of the best investments I made in terms of time and money. The role playing really pulled me in. I loved being able to snoop through suspects’ rooms and belongings to figure out the mastermind behind the haunted happenings. I enjoyed having conversations with everyone at the mansion. The spooky parts caught me off guard, and even made be jump a few times. Message in a Haunted Mansion had enough puzzles to keep me busy but not frustrated to the point of giving up the gameplay. I am happy that the suspense of the game kept me going and fueled my desire to see it through to its end.
Back then there were a lot of video and computer games that were targeted to young and adolescent boys. The parent company of the Nancy Drew series, Her Interactive, specifically designed games for the female audience. The titular character of the series, Nancy Drew, is a role model to girls and women who want to experience what the virtual world is like. From friendship lessons, studying about history, reading, puzzles, and being able to follow directions, Nancy Drew teaches meaningful skills that mirror reality.
I truly enjoyed playing Message in a Haunted Mansion and because of that I became a fan of the Nancy Drew games. I have nearly all the titles in the series and I look forward to future installments from Her Interactive.
