Nature's Design - Artist Biography

Lauren VanArman is the owner of Time Zone Resource, LLC. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Supervision & Management with a minor in art. Her artistic training also includes study at Dreyfoos School of the Arts and an Industrial Drafting Certificate with a focus on 3D computer modeling. Areas of academic study include photography, life drawing, oil, watercolor, acrylic painting, pastel, printmaking, jewelry-design, 3D design, and blueprint drafting. She has been making wire jewelry for over 20 years and now fashions it into other 3D forms, namely insects.

Lauren has worked as a muralist, picture framer, calligrapher, sign painter, architectural and industrial designer, furniture/art/antique restorer, decorative painter, performance painter, in a bronze studio, in clothing design and fashion show organization. Inspiration for her artwork comes mostly from nature and the environment she is working in.

Her art has been exhibited at Jazz On J Street, Bohemia AG, Northwood, Armory Art Center, Arthur R. Marshal Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge Center, Red Tapas Restaurant, Cabo Flats, PBSC Library, PBSC Art Gallery, Our Savior Lutheran Church, St. Catherine Greek Church, Dreyfoos SOA, South Florida Fair, JFK Hospital, private residences, and more. She continues to be actively in involved in providing artistic services for diverse charitable organizations.

This show is inspired by Lauren VanArman’s love of the amazing architectural structures found in nature. Growing up with two biologist parents has influenced her art and encouraged an expression of nature using a variety of wire jewelry and beading methods. Her background in architectural and mechanical drafting provides a way to plan and execute intricate insect structures in 3D forms. By integrating her understanding of their balanced proportions and colors with jewelry techniques she aims to add aesthetic value and draw awareness to the beauty of this part of the animal kingdom.

The 51st Annual Gemstone, Mineral, Bead, Fossil & Jewelry Show

Hello everyone,

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the 51st Annual Gemstone, Mineral, Bead, Fossil & Jewelry Show presented by The Gem & Mineral Society of the Palm Beaches, Inc. in South Florida. It was a phenomenal event with no shortage of attendees. Dozens of vendors from different parts of the state had gathered to display and sell jewelry, handcrafted goods, and other collectibles. There were demonstrations on jewelry making, jewelry art showcases, and a fossil exhibit with dinosaur bones.

My favorite vendor was We Rock Rocks. It was the only vendor that sold beaded bracelets and stone pendulums. I bought two pendulums and a bracelet. When I got home, I discovered that one of the pendulums could separate into a bracelet and a pendant. I attached the pendant to my necklace chain and I'm wearing the bracelet on my wrist. Kudos to We Rock Rocks for their products!

Here are some photographs that I took from the event. I'm looking forward to attending the 52nd Annual Gemstone, Mineral, Bead, Fossil & Jewelry Show next year!
